Get Ahead, Knit a Hat this Christmas
Posted on December 22 2020
Well, my Lovebirds received their knitted hats in time for Christmas. On the basis that we may not be able to see all our loved ones this holiday with all the restrictions in force, handmade gifts take on a special meaning. Here are some quick and easy knits for you to enjoy making and giving.
Hats are always a great accessory to gift. Worn when walking, golfing, ski-ing or just as a means of keeping your head and ears warm, there are plenty of patterns to choose from:

I hope that these pictures inspire you to knit a hat or two for friends, family or for yourself.
For those of you who are fans of the iconic knitwear designer, Patricia Roberts, I received the sad news that Patricia died on Thursday 10th December. She was an absolute inspiration to my generation of knitters and her shops in Covent Garden and Kinnerton Street were always a joy to visit. I was lucky enough to meet Patricia on two occasions at Les Soeurs Anglaises and through these classes met a lovely group of knitters from Sweden, Australia and the UK. We have met annually since although, the trip planned to Venice last year failed to go ahead for obvious reasons.
Whilst talking about Les Soeurs Anglaises, I am thrilled to have been invited to lead a knitting week at this beautiful venue in September. I have called the course 'Knitting with Confidence' and my aim is to encourage anyone who has the basic knitting skills to continue their journey. I know many, very capable knitters of shawls, socks and accessories who are 'worried' about taking the next step into garment knitting. I am hoping to give participants the knowledge and tools to tackle sweater and cardigan patterns with confidence. Les Soeurs is situated in the beautiful Dordogne region of France and aside from meeting new people and learning new skills, you will enjoy the wonderful hospitality on offer. A week here could just be the break you deserve after this rather strange year.
I don't suppose any of us will be sad to see the end of 2020. However, it has been a year for reflection and I, for one, will not take so many things for granted again. Have a lovely Christmas and I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.
