SHORTLISTED FOR 3 BRITISH KNITTING AND CROCHET AWARDS 2020

Christmas is coming...........

Posted on November 25 2018

With just about a month to go before Christmas, there is still time to knit some gifts for yourself, family or friends before Christmas. Even better, why not purchase one of our kits to give as a present ....I can think of nothing nicer than spending the aftermath of Christmas watching a good film or series with some knitting and a cup of Yorkshire tea. Last week, I rewatched 'Last Tango in Halifax' based in the Dales and Harrogate whilst working on a new pattern for our website.

So, here are some ideas to either knit or send as a kit this Christmas......

Hats make a great present. Everyone needs a hat to help keep warm in the winter months. Whether you are a walker, skier or golfer there are plenty of patterns in different yarns available:

Mrs Moon is known for their fabulously soft yarns which are perfect for hats and cowls. Plump Super Chunky and Plump Double Knit yarns from Mrs Moon are available in a wide range of colours to suit all tastes.

Kylie is one of my favourite hat designs from Quail Studio knitted with one ball of Rowan's Cocoon. Its cabled pattern ensures that the hat fits snugly to keep you warm and it looks even more stylish when a Rowan Vegan PomPom is added.

Cowls and scarves also make great gifts and are quick and easy to knit. Our own Puddle yarn is knitted on 15mm needles so it really does knit up quickly and will make a lovely present either ready-made or as a gift for someone to knit over the Christmas period and New Year.

Finally, we have designed a headband and fingerless mitts set which are made from just one ball of Rowan's Cocoon using 6.5mm needles.

I must admit, I had never quite seen the point of fingerless mitts until we took our stand at Yarndale this year and I wore a pair from stock as it can be quite cold at the show. I am pleased to report that they definitely keep you warm whilst allowing your fingers to function normally. The headband is a great solution for keeping nice and snug for those of us who do not always look our best in a hat!

If you would like any help or advice with any of the above then please give us a call on 01423 816618.

Good luck with the Christmas present lists.
